Tissue Array Research Program (TARP)

TARP is a joint program by the National Cancer Institute and the National Human Genome Research Institute to promote the development and application of the tissue microarray technology. TARP has the following goals:

  1. Advance tissue microarray technology research and development
  2. Produce tissue microarrays for use by the research community
  3. Provide help in arraying unique tissue materials, such as those from clinical trial groups or consortiums of rare disease
  4. Disseminate tissue microarray technology by providing training, workshops, establishing protocols and standards

NCI is in charge of the making of the tissue microarrays to the research community whereas NHGRI leads the development of the technology.

More information is available at the Tissue Array Research Project Homepage.
